Andrew Scott
I hope to bring my pastor’s heart
into the classroom at Lee University.
Transitioning out of full-time pastoral ministry, I hope to bring my passion for the church, my depth of experience in church music leadership, my zeal for Biblical worship and theology, and my joy in growing with and challenging young worship leaders into the classroom. I can offer a quarter century of both practical experience in music ministry and intentional application of Scripture to the practice, philosophy, and the changing landscape of worship to every class, conversation, and student interaction.
EXPERIENCE
Pastor for Worship Arts
2002-2026
Concord Baptist Church
Chattanooga, TN
Designed weekly worship services, including music selection and arrangements for multiple instruments. Planned prayer and scripture readings, created and programmed all multimedia service elements.
Rehearsed worship choir and small ensembles for worship leadership.
Taught regularly in my ministry area and occasionally before the whole church. Sample recordings are below. Additional recordings are available upon request.
Trained young worship leaders in the church, both in musical skills and in our approach to music ministry, service planning, gospel shaped worship, and worship as discipleship.
Participated as a pastor in all of church life, extending care and counseling to church members, working through difficult or divisive issues as a body.
Offered leadership and budget oversight to several ministry areas, oversaw all church print and online communication and campus care, and supporting the other ministries of the church.
Organized a monthly gathering of worship leaders for encouragement and prayer support. Used this gathering to create conversations and guide discussions about our various approaches to philosophy and theology of worship. Enjoyed challenging others in our priorities while understanding and appreciating different approaches.
Substitute Teacher
2023-2026
Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (K-12)
Served on Fridays about once a month as a substitute teacher at the school where my family attends.
Usually taught for the Middle and High School band or strings teachers, sometimes filled in for elementary music teacher.
When not substituting, regularly set up and ran sound and video support for school activities.
